Who is Elise McCormack?

Hi, I’m Elise McCormack—writer, millennial, recovering people-pleaser, pagan, and full-time chaos manager (also known as “mom of three”). I write fantasy and romance for grown-up gifted kids who never quite recovered from their religious trauma and now process it through morally gray characters, enemies-to-lovers arcs, and magic systems built to be dismantled.

My debut novel, The Chosen: And The Price of Defiance, is basically what happens when you throw purity culture, power-hungry institutions, and a snarky, sexually curious protagonist into a locked magical boarding school and then light a match.

I believe in semi-slow burns, defiant girls, boys who are emotionally available (but like, reluctantly), and love triangles that make you spiral. My books tend to ask big questions like “what if the chosen ones were actually just oppressors?” and “is kissing the rebellion leader's son technically treason?” (Spoiler: yes, and she’ll do it anyway.)

When I’m not writing, I’m drinking lukewarm tea, rereading my favorite scenes for validation, and pretending I don’t have 37 tabs open. I love dark ocean vibes, soft angst, and characters who hold eye contact too long. If you’re here for heartache, heat, and heresy—you’re in the right place.
